So what is my deal?
The strings of my first guitar channeled parts of me I never knew I had. I find the guitar to be both the most eloquent and visceral instrument; one can recreate the flowers in the hair of a medieval princess or the grit of a homeless guy pissing on a newspaper with the way their finger interprets the string. It is not much different than creating a character in a story. I get into character with each of my songs and I believe that raw feeling is more inviting than perfect pitch. This is not to say that I do not spend hours doing vocal takes, guitar takes and production. Who doesn’t? I release the art that is perfect in my mind and my mind alone. An artist would go crazy trying to make their art perfect for everyone!
Writing music revived my love for writing fiction and I am putting 2 years worth of research into my new novel. My second novel, Harmonic Feedback, has done well for me. Jennifer Laughran liked it so much she took me on as a client. A couple weeks later we sold it to Henry Holt Young Readers. Harmonic Feedback is scheduled for release in Spring 2010.
But enough about who I am! This is what I do: I am a one girl band, but I am always happy to collaborate with other musicians.
I’m a writer, filmmaker, video editor (this is my passion when it comes to film), and digital photographer. As you can see from this web site, art is my life and I am always looking for new projects.
